From One Wedding to Their Own
Some love stories begin quietly. Others begin exactly where they are meant to end.
For Jessica Gill and Raymond Grewal, it all started at a wedding in 2017 - a fitting origin for a relationship that would one day come beautifully full circle. In a room filled with celebration, family, and promise, Jessica noticed something small but telling: Raymond was wearing the jersey of her favourite soccer player. That shared love of sport sparked a conversation, and that conversation sparked something more lasting.
What followed was not a whirlwind romance, but something far deeper and more enduring.
Distance never stood a chance. Across provinces and continents, Jessica and Raymond spoke every single day, building a relationship grounded in communication, encouragement, and mutual respect. While Jessica devoted eight years to becoming a lawyer, Raymond balanced varsity and professional hockey with earning his Bachelor of Commerce and CFA designation. Individually ambitious, together unwavering, they became each other’s biggest champions.
Adventure became their shared language. United by a love of sports, wellness, and exploration, the couple travelled to more than 16 countries together, collecting experiences rather than milestones. Among them was a magical engagement in Barcelona, a city that mirrored the spirit of their relationship - vibrant, romantic, and full of possibility.
When it came time to say “I do,” Jessica and Raymond chose to celebrate in a way that felt deeply personal. Their wedding took place at a private residence in Sherwood Park, Alberta, transforming an intimate setting into a meaningful gathering of two families coming together from different provinces. It was less about grandeur and more about intention - a reflection of the life they had already built side by side.
