A First Meeting That Felt Like Coming Home
On March 8th, 2022 - fittingly, International Women’s Day - Shefali and Eugene met for coffee at Thierry on Alberni Street in Vancouver. What began as a simple first meeting quickly turned into hours of conversation that neither of them wanted to end. There was an ease between them from the very start - the kind that makes you feel like you’ve known someone for years.
Though their roots trace back to entirely different parts of the world, their journeys somehow led them to the same city. Eugene, originally from Ukraine, moved to Canada as a teenager. Shefali grew up in Bangalore, studied in London, and made Vancouver home in 2019. Together, they discovered a shared love for food, travel, and adventure - building a relationship grounded in curiosity, laughter, and deep partnership.
A Wedding Story Told Across Two Continents
Their celebration unfolded in beautifully intentional chapters, beginning with an intimate civil ceremony in Vancouver in August 2025 - a quiet, meaningful moment in the city where their story began.
Just before, they captured their love among the breathtaking coastal forests of Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. Surrounded by towering trees and ocean views, their pre-wedding shoot reflected the calm, grounded nature of their relationship - organic, natural, and deeply connected.
But the heart of their wedding story continued across the world.
A Sangeet Full of Joy, Music, and Global Love
In February 2026, the celebrations moved to Bangalore, where Shefali’s vision came vividly to life. Hosted at the iconic ITC Windsor, their Sangeet was nothing short of electric.
The evening blended Western, Russian, and Bollywood traditions into one unforgettable celebration. Family and friends from over 18 countries sent heartfelt video messages, filling the room with laughter, tears, and an overwhelming sense of connection. It was a night that truly embodied the spirit of their relationship - global, joyful, and deeply rooted in love.
A Ceremony Steeped in Family and Tradition
The following day, Shefali and Eugene exchanged vows at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Bangalore - a venue rich with personal meaning and family history.
Shefali’s gown was especially close to her heart. Designed in collaboration with her childhood classmate Nikita, the dress was brought to life across continents, with measurements sent from London and a flawless first fitting. It was a testament not only to craftsmanship, but to enduring friendships and trust.
In a beautiful nod to Eugene’s heritage, the couple also incorporated the Slavic tradition of sharing korovai bread and salt. This symbolic ritual represents both the sweetness and the challenges of marriage - a powerful reminder of the journey they are stepping into together.
An Elegant Celebration Under the Stars ✨
Their wedding day concluded with a stunning reception at the JW Marriott Hotel lawns in Bangalore. Set against an open sky, the evening felt like a perfect culmination of everything their wedding represented - elegance, warmth, and the seamless blending of cultures.

Shefali and Eugene’s wedding was more than a celebration - it was a reflection of who they are. Two individuals from different corners of the world, brought together by chance, choosing each other with intention.
